Snuggle Sac Helped My Son to Sleep Through the Night
Guest Blog by Greg Shorter
Between my wedding day and the birth of my first son, friends and relatives of a particular generation would frequently ask: “When are we going to hear the pitter-patter of tiny feet?” It was just a phrase to me, then.
My son was a relatively late walker – he took his first tentative steps at around 17 months old. As he grew more confident on his feet, that pitter-patter became a mixed blessing. Sure, there was the pitter-patter of him running to greet you at the door. But there was also the pitter-patter-splash of him running into a puddle in the new Clark’s Shoes that his grandmother bought him.
And there was also the dreaded 2am pitter-patter across the landing into our room.
“Good Morning,” he would announce with a strange formality. We’d do our best to coax him back to his bed but, inevitably, this sometimes proved impossible and one or other of us would wind up playing Dinosaur Pairs in the small hours wondering how on Earth we were going to get through the working day.
The Dalmatian Snuggle Sac was a gamechanger for three reasons.
1. He loved it. “Is Doggy?” he observed when he first saw it. “Where’s doggy?” he demanded to know when it was removed to be washed.
2. Unlike a duvet, a Snuggle Sac is hard for a toddler to kick onto the floor in the night and then complain that he is cold.
3. A Snuggle Sac can be rolled up in its bag and taken with you to provide bedtime familiarity on nights away.
Sleep training – as the parenting books and forums call it – was a much longer process than I thought it was going to be. We’d already come a long way and the introduction of a Snuggle Sac took us a step closer to the Holy Grail of an uninterrupted night’s sleep, night after night. I would have no hesitation recommending this product to any parent of a toddler. And I see they do a baby range, too!
